HUNTER VALLEY WINE REGION
Valley Region is one of Australia's most famous
wine-growing regions, known for both its red and white
wine varieties. It is a region of New South Wales,
extending from approximately 120 km to 310 km north of
Sydney, Australia. It produces approximately 35,000
tonnes of grapes per annum, making it one of Australia's
top wine-producing regions.
Australia’s first wine region (vines were first planted
in the area in the early 1820’s from cuttings brought by
James Busby, the father of Australian wine) is the home
of two of Australia’s most famous and uniquely beautiful
wines: Hunter Valley Semillon and Hunter Valley Shiraz.
