South
African wine has a history dating back to 1659, and at
one time Constantia was considered one of the greatest
wines in the world. Production is concentrated around
Cape Town, but Paarl, Stellenbosch and Constantia are
classic regions also, new upcoming regions such as
Robertson, Breede River Valley and Worcester are
developing amazing wines.
South Africa is generally classed as a New World wine
producer yet some of its oldest estates pre-date even
the First Growth châteaux of Bordeaux. |
